We have new rumors from NashWeedle about the Nintendo Switch 2 coming out of Tokyo Game Show.
While we did know that Nintendo would be at the event, it was announced that they were not going to be at the public showroom floor, and would only be presenting to other industry members. It seemed reasonable to guess that Nintendo was presenting the Switch 2 to those Japanese game developers and industry members. It would have been the same thing they were rumored to have done at the recent Gamescom.
So, we can also reasonably expect that they brought similar demos to Tokyo Game Show, if not the same The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 demos they had on hand. The reason for these presentations would have been the same, to convince game companies big and small to sign on and make ports of their games for the Switch 2. The only difference here is the move in region from European to Japanese game developers.
NashWeedle shares two rumors out of this event. For one, when Nash asked his source if Nintendo had already convinced any companies to make games for the Switch 2, Nash was told that Panic Button was already working on ports of games to the console.
Panic Button is best known for making ports of games to the Nintendo Switch. Their library of titles that fit that category include Doom Eternal, Warframe, Subnautica, Torchlight 2, and Apex Legends.
While it’s exciting to receive secondhand word that a third party game is being ported to the Switch 2, we don’t know if Panic Button will take full advantage of the Switch 2’s rumored power yet. It is reasonable to expect that game companies learn to better utilize console hardware after at least a good two years making games on it.
