During an appearance on the Kinda Funny xCast (timestamp 01:00:55), insider Jeff Grubb stated he had heard rumblings of a Gears of War 6 reveal happening this summer. However, the podcast participants also agreed that Gears 6 could be a launch title for Xbox's next generation of consoles, which would put its release date at least a couple of years away. Insider Tom Warren later backed up Grubb's claim in a tweet, when he simply said that Grubb's statement was «correct.» While multiple insiders agreeing on the matter is a promising development for fans awaiting a Gears of War 6 reveal, this news is still unconfirmed at this time.
A previous Gears of War 6 rumor claimed that the game is taking the open-world approach seen in Gears 5 and raising it to a new level. The Xbox Era podcast's Shpeshal Nick said that Gears 6 is «almost» fully open world and that its development is a bit further along than people might expect.
