Absurd Ventures will create content for more than just video games.
By Luis Joshua Gutierrez on
Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games as well as former creative director and lead writer of games such as GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Bully, has opened up a new studio called Absurd Ventures. The studio intends to create new IPs available on multiple platforms, and that includes more than video games.
The studio plans on creating worlds that can be produced for live-action, animation, video games, comic books, and more. In a press release, Houser stated they «are building Absurd Ventures to create new universes and to tell great stories, wherever and however, we can.»
It's also worth noting that even though Houser is just getting the studio off the ground, it was first incorporated in 2021. Thanks to a VGC report, we know it was officially incorporated on June 23 of that year. This could mean work has been underway for some time
Since officially incorporating Absurd Ventures, Houser has been living the high life. It was previously reported that House and his wife Krystyna Jakubiak paid $8.5 million for a home in Los Angeles, California. This would make it their third in the region and at least fourth property in the United States.
