Throughout his history in DC Comics, Batman has been so laser-focused on the mission at hand that he often sacrifices his own happiness, but Tim Drake's Robin coming out as bisexual could finally teach Bruce Wayne that he doesn't have to make that sacrifice. The seeds for such a drastic realization for Bruce were first planted when Tim Drake came out as bisexual during the «Sum of Our Parts» portion of Batman: Urban Legends #6 by Meghan Fitzmartin, Belen Ortega, and Alejandro Sanchez. Tim's budding friendship with Bernard naturally blossoms into a romance when the issue concludes with both men deciding to go on a date, which quickly turns into an official partnership.
So far at least, Bernard and Tim's relationship has been running smoothly without Tim's moonlighting as Robin complicating things just yet. The same cannot be said for the rest of the Bat-Family. Traditionally, their vigilante careers make having a love life impossible for Batman and company. But that may all change sooner rather than later with new writer Chip Zdarsky, who officially becomes the new lead writer of Batman starting with Batman #125 this summer.

In a new interview with DC Comics, Chip Zdarsky speaks at length about Tim Drake, who will be serving as Batman's Robin for his run on the series. Zdarsky discusses how Tim continuing to explore his own sexuality will instill confidence in the third Robin, and also adds that Tim's open bisexuality will be vital to even Bruce Wayne and the rest of the Bat-Family.
