Despite the strong image of fear Batman tries to cultivate, one member of the Justice League doesn't buy his shtick and the Dark Knight simply can't deal by that.
After spending most of his life training to launch a one-man war on crime, Bruce Wayne knew it wouldn't be enough just to be a good fighter or detective. Recognizing that criminals are "a superstitious and cowardly lot," he knew that he needed to become a symbol that would strike fear in the hearts of wrongdoers. Adopting the motif of the most terrifying nocturnal creature, Batman used fear to his advantage when cleaning up the streets of Gotham. As he expanded his efforts out to work with other heroes, his reputation preceded him, and nearly every hero picked up the off-putting and scary vibes that Batman put out.

But one hero never bought into the Dark Knight's act and it may explain why Batman may have never gotten over it. Green Lantern Rebirth #1 by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver features a massive explosion taking place at Green Lantern Guy Gardner's bar. As the Justice League investigates, clues seemingly link back to Hal Jordan, triggering unpleasant memories for Batman. Bruce suspects that Hal has not shed his villainous Parallax persona and that he plans to use the Spectre's powers for some insidious plan. As the League tries to defend Jordan, Batman launches into a much more personal tirade on the Green Lantern. Bruce proclaims that Hal has too much of an ego and that he never thinks about the consequences of his actions.
