While Batman has faced many foes before, few have challenged him like the enigmatic figure known only as the Help. As one of the few villains to best Batman in hand-to-hand combat, The Help boasts an extensive pedigree in martial arts. It’s not just raw skill that makes him so impressive, however; rather, it’s the fact that he’s taught so many of the fighters in the DC Universe that it's clear he's the person Bruce Wayne should actually have sought out for his own training.
The Help makes his formal debut in Batman: Killing Time #3, by David Marquez and Tom King. Hired by the Penguin to take out Riddler and Catwoman, the Help instead finds himself embroiled in a brutal duel with Batman. The Help swiftly takes the upper hand, calling out each of Batman’s iconic moves and lecturing him on his performance. After a fierce fourteen minutes of fighting, the Help knocks Batman out, critiques his technique, and leaves Bruce his card with the offer to look him up for future training.

What makes the Help so special isn’t just that he’s one of the few people who can beat Batman in a fight, but rather how he gained the wherewithal to do so. During the duel, he’s able to deduce each person Batman has trained under — and reveals that he taught every one of them. Of note are antiheroes such as Richard Dragon and Henri Ducard, as well as out-and-out assassins like David Cain. He is even familiar with the techniques of Ra's al Ghul, telling Batman that he will «have to write to write to him tonight to tell him how well at least one of his pupils has learned his lessons.» This implies that the Help is one of Ra's al Ghul's
