The Justice League were killed in a fight against Pariah and the Great Darkness, as Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, and John Stewart's Green Lantern surprisingly perished in the battle to save the Omniverse. In the Hal Jordan-starring story by Chuck Brown, Fico Ossio, Sabastian Chang, and Josh Reed from Justice League Road to Dark Crisis #1 by DC Comics, the homesick hero returns to Earth following an alien who heads for the Earth's Ocean. Green Lantern calls for help from Aquaman, Flash, and Superman, but nobody responds to the hero, leading Hal to go underwater to Atlantis to chase the alien. After encountering Jackson Hyde and briefly stopping the threats, Green Lantern asks his fellow hero why Aquaman never responded to his distress calls, leading Hyde to break the news that the Justice League is dead.
