A classicJustice League villain was forced to endure a horrifying punishment that makes death itself seem easier — and he had no one but himself to blame. The League has faced plenty of world-threatening opponents before, such as the universe-conqueror Darkseid. But The Brave and the Bold #30 depicts a much more human enemy...who, by the end of the issue, will face a truly inhumane punishment.
The Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the other members of the Justice League of America all find their powers failing them in times of crisis. At the same time, multiple long-lived animals have been kidnapped from all over the world. The League spreads out in order to guard the animals, but are routinely intercepted by Amazo, an android created by Professor Ivo. Amazo has stolen the League's superpowers and has access to all of them at once, essentially making him a one-man Justice league. Amazo manages to use each League member's power against them (except Batman, who has no powers), capturing them and reporting back to his creator of his success.

Amazo delivers the captured superheroes to Ivo's hideout, where the villain's real plan is revealed: using a serum derived from the long-lived animals, he plans to cheat death and become immortal. Unfortunately, Green Lantern uses his yellow weakness against Amazo and foils Ivo's plans (while also restoring the powers of the League members and draining Amazo of his energy). In court, the judge sentences Ivo to 500 years in prison...and since Ivo drank the serum he created, it's highly likely he will serve every single one.
