Milestone has announced Ride 5, the latest game in their motorcycle racing simulation series. Ride 5 will only be coming to the new generation of consoles, arriving on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Epic on August 24th.
At the heart of Ride 5 is a new career mode, with Milestone aiming to make it more engaging with a narrator to introduce events and guide players through their journey. There will be four main racing categories filled with over 200 playable events to work through (some of these are secondary challenges) and you’ll be primarily competing with 10 featured rivals, each coming with a personality, background and aesthetic. You’ll be racing to climb the leaderboard, unlock new events, and continually come out ahead of your rivals.
Alongside the career, fans of endurance races will now be pleased to see that there are both in-race saves and a rewind feature, making things more accessible to those with limited gaming time, and more forgiving to those occasional lapses in concentration.
However, the most exciting thing by far will be seeing what Milestone can do with the game exclusive to the latest generation of console. For the first time in the series, Ride 5 will feature a Dynamic Weather System that calculated real-time track and air temperature, features 3D volumetric clouds (as opposed to 2D previously) that change shape and interacts with the light in more realistic ways. Oh, and motorbike physics are also being improved, of course.
Ride 5 brings local split-screen multiplayer back for the first time, but if you’re heading online you’ll be able to join cross-play lobbies across consoles and PC, all feeding into a global leaderboard system.
