Adam Driver Reportedly Offered MCU Reed Richards Role in Fantastic Four
Following months of Marvel Cinematic Universe rumors, a new report reveals that Marvel Studios has offered Adam Driver the role of the MCU Reed Richards, should he accept.
According to the latest episode of The Hot Mic Podcast, Above the Line’s Jeff Sneider was asked about recent reports that Driver was being eyed to be the MCU Reed Richards in a film. Sneider not only confirmed the rumor but noted that from what he had heard, the role had essentially been made his to turn down.
“I have, in fact, heard that Driver does have the offer,” Sneider said, confirming a report that noted insider and scooper Daniel Richtman made earlier this week that said Driver was now in final talks to play the iconic character. “But this is what we talked about, I think it was 5 months ago, he was the very first name that we, or potentially anybody seriously anyway, had connected to. I’d heard that he had … gone in for Reed. I mentioned Doctor Doom as well, but he already basically played Doctor Doom in .”
This isn’t the first time that Driver’s name has come up in regards to the role. Sneider previously shared information during an episode of The Hot Mic podcast that Driver is in the lead to play the role, a report that Sneider said he couldn’t verify but made sense to him.
Elsewhere, Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Rudolph also teased that Driver could be “a front-runner for a certain stretchy role.” Alongside rumors of Driver playing the MCU Reed Richards, other reports have mentioned that star Austin Butler has been eyed to play the role of Johnny Storm, otherwise known as The Human Torch.
Marvel’s comic book series, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, debuted in 1961 and was the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics.
