P-Studio and SEGA have finally released their latest addition to the Persona series, Persona 5 Tactica (P5T). This spin-off is a tactical role-playing game that takes the lovable characters of the series and transposes them into a cute, surprisingly rewarding tactical game.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona is a franchise that has captivated the world since 1996. It originally began as a spin-off for Atlus’ Megami Tensei franchise.
Much like in the rest of the Persona games, Persona 5 Tactica stars a cast of students who are the Phantom Thieves and includes a silent protagonist, of whom players get to choose the dialogue.
Persona has a long history of games, starting as far back as 1996, which means that there is a lot of history, which leaves room for inside jokes. This is a double-edged sword in favour of the game.
Review: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is Visually Stunning But Lacks Substance
The game doesn’t spend much time introducing the characters at the start, assuming you have played a previous Persona game and won’t need an introduction. It makes it difficult to understand what’s happening right at the start, but if you stick around, it’s worth it.
On the other hand, if you don’t know the inside jokes, Persona 5 Tactica doesn’t make you feel bad about it. There are dialogue options for new and old players, and it’s easy to get into the game because it’s basically hosted in a whole new Metaverse.
That being said, it’s also an inspiration to go back and play other games so that you know what everyone else is talking about, so that’s a great marketing strategy from SEGA and P-Studio to get you to play their other games.
