Embracer Group is considering options for The Gearbox Entertainment Company, including a sale, three people familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Two of the people said that Embracer Group has received interest from third parties willing to purchase Gearbox Entertainment, which it first acquired in February 2021.
Embracer Group is reportedly working with Goldman Sachs and Aream & Co. to explore a sale.
Despite the interest from third parties, the sources also cautioned that a deal may not occur.
Representatives from both Embracer Group and Goldman Sachs declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.
Back in June, Embracer Group announced a large-scale restructuring program including layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations. There have since been multiple layoffs and Saints Row developer Volition was shut down after 30 years in operation.
