Following a brief tease earlier this year, we finally have a better look and a release date for Helldivers 2 courtesy of today's State of Play. It's coming out on PS5 and PC on Feb. 8, 2024.
The marks a bit of a delay, as it was originally set to release at the end of this year. Pre-orders will launch on Sept. 22 for both the Standard Edition and the Super Citizen Edition.
The new gameplay footage showed a bit of the co-op in action, giving a preview of how some of the various mechanics work as players take on a massive bug-like monster called the Bile Titan.
Per a PlayStation blog post Arrowhead Game Studios released with the trailer, players will be able to team up with up to three friends to "explore unique planets and complete objectives together, and upgrade your equipment through the deep progression system of Helldivers 2."
Helldivers 2 was first announced in May as a sequel to top-down shooter Helldivers, and is planned for release on PS5 and PC. IGN gave the original game a 9/10, saying it "isn’t the prettiest game you can play on PS4, PS3 or Vita, but Helldivers is one of the most exhilarating" and that it was "brutal, focused, and mechanically rich."
