A key part of Capcom's business strategy has always been porting its big games to as many platforms as possible. This is readily apparent with Capcom's blockbuster survival-horror franchise Resident Evil, with various entries from the series brought to nearly every gaming platform imaginable. Now it seems as though some of the more recent Resident Evil games will be making the jump to next-generation consoles, and it could happen in the very near future.
Native PlayStation 5 versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 have been spotted on the PSN database, suggesting that the updates could come in the very near future. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't be out of the question for the updates to hit PS5 and Xbox Series X as early as next week, as Capcom is hosting a special presentation on June 13 where an announcement like this could be made.
Capcom Refers to Upcoming Resident Evil 4 As ‘Reawakened’ Rather Than a ‘Remake’
A Capcom showcase is scheduled for Monday, June 13 at 3pm PT. Capcom is expected to showcase its upcoming games at the event, though the only game that's actually been confirmed for the show is the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion. It would be surprising if Resident Evil didn't have a presence at the event, though, so chances are good that the next-gen updates will at least be talked about, if not stealth-launched, next week.
Besides potential next-gen upgrades for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7, it's possible that fans will learn about other Resident Evil games as well. After all, Capcom just recently announced the Resident Evil 4 remake at the latest PlayStation State of Play, so it's possible the highly-anticipated game will get a fresh look at the Capcom
