Capcom this week confirmed(Opens in a new window) that DLC for Resident Evil Village arrives on Oct. 28.
The DLC, known as the Winters' Expansion, has three parts, the first of which is Third-Person Mode. (Surprise, it lets you play in the main story mode in the third person.)
"This new viewpoint will let you see Ethan as he faces off against his enemies," says(Opens in a new window) Tsuyoshi Kanda, a Capcom producer. "Those of you who are new as well as those of you who have yet to experience Resident Evil Village can experience the story in this fresh perspective."
Resident Evil Village itself has a third-person mod, as you can see in this video(Opens in a new window).
The second part of the DLC, The Mercenaries Additional Orders, is an arcade-like action shooting experience that introduces new playable characters. Kanda teased the shotgun slinging Chris Redfield, Mad Scientist Karl Heisenberg, and everyone’s favorite 9-foot-tall vampire, Lady Dimitrescu.
Lastly, we have Shadows of Rose, the update I’m most excited about, which puts players in control of Ethan Winter’s daughter, Rose. "This DLC will show her story of survival 16 years after the original campaign," Kanda says.
Along with the DLC announcement, a new version of the base game was announced. Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will include the base game, the DLC content, and access to Resident Evil Re:Verse, which was revealed in 2021 as a free-to-play multiplayer title before it was delayed(Opens in a new window) due to "matchmaking" trouble.
