A reliable Capcom insider who originally reported that Resident Evil 9 might have been hit with an internal delay has now suggested that's not the case and that it should still be releasing in 2025.
It may have only been just over a year since the excellent Resident Evil 4 remake launched and reminded us all how much we love Leon Kennedy, but that hasn't stopped fans from looking forward to the future of the series. That means that all eyes are on the next major new entry - Resident Evil 9 which, while not officially confirmed, has long been rumoured to be in development.
Capcom has become pretty reliable when it comes to its release schedule with Resident Evil 9, which had most of us thinking that the ninth game couldn't be too far from release now that we're approaching three years since Village's release. A reliable insider threw a wrench in the works of that idea last month, though, when they reported that Resident Evil 9 had been internally delayed.
Despite AestheticGamer (also known as Dusk Golem) reporting just a few weeks ago that Resident Evil 9 had been pushed back a little and that they didn't know when it could be launching, it seems that isn't the case anymore. Over on Twitter, AestheticGamer posted an update about the unannounced ninth entry, saying to discount the rumour they reported on earlier.
According to them, Resident Evil 9 should be revealed "pretty soon" and release at some point in 2025. If what they've heard about the game previously is true, then it could be released in January, which does follow the schedule that most Resident Evil games have followed over the last few games.
I have good news/rumors to deliver on Resident Evil 9. The possible delay I had heard murmurs about can be pushed aside. RE9 should be revealed pretty soon & release next year. If what I heard previously holds true, should be in January. It'll have had about 7 years in dev.
