When it comes to fan love of games, gamers will show their appreciation and respect for specific titles in numerous ways. A great example can be found in the recent Resident Evil 4 Remake. The remake was the true successor to the original Nintendo Gamecube title that took the world by storm. It featured the return of Leon S. Kennedy on a mission to save the President’s daughter. What would follow as an insane venture through a Spanish town and the “residents” that made it hard for the two to escape. It’s widely considered one of the greatest games ever made.
So when Capcom brought it “back to life” on modern systems, fans already had great expectations, and all of them were met, more or less. The graphics looked amazing, the gameplay was refined and expanded upon in new ways, and several side characters, including Ashley, were given more personality and story. Resident Evil 4 Remake was an instant hit for Capcom and helped start the year right for them.
So why are we bringing up the fan love for the game? Simply put, a YouTuber named DooMero made his own version of the game. But instead of making it a 3D super high-definition title, they made it so that the entire game could be played in a 2D side-scroller. We’re serious, and to prove it, DooMero posted a YouTube video highlighting some of the gameplay that you can do:
As you can see, the game has a bit of a Gamecube graphics feel, yet you can still tell what’s going on and how it feels like the main game. You can even see Easter Eggs to the original title, like with the typewriter and the chainsaw villain.
