In the latest PCMag Readers’ Choice survey, we asked you to rate the printers and scanners you use at home. For many, your printer and scanner are combined into one device: a multifunction or all-in-one printer. Others still have the need for a separate scanner in addition to, or instead of, having one integrated, usually for high-speed document scanning or the highest-quality photo scanning.
Regardless of the reason, if you’re in the market for a new printer or scanner, read on to see which brands our readers say provide the most satisfying experience for the long haul.
In the consumer printer market, there are only four significant players: Canon, Epson, HP, and Brother. Of those four, there's a clear standout: Brother. The company wins our Readers’ Choice award for the thirteenth year in a row, and it’s been nine years since anyone else even shared the award with Brother.
Brother dominates the survey on nearly every satisfaction rating. It’s not just about features either, though Brother does rank best in satisfaction with document print quality, print speed, paper handling, network sharing, copier functions, and scanning. Brother also comes out on top in core aspects of satisfaction: cost/value, reliability, ease of use, tech support, and repairs. Based on all this, it also has the highest ratings for overall satisfaction and the likelihood of earning a recommendation to a friend.
