Comedian has signed a first-look deal with Netflix, expanding his relationship with the streamer as he looks to develop projects.
According to a report from THR, the partnership will see Youssef develop and create “serialized projects” that Netflix will have the first option to order. Currently, no official projects or works have been announced, but Youssef and Netflix have had a strong relationship as of late.
Youssef and Cairo Cowboy co-created the comedy-drama series Mo, which currently is available on Netflix. Youssef also co-created and will star alongside Will Ferrell in the upcoming comedy series Golf, which will also see Youssef act as co-showrunner for the series.
The comedian is best known for his starring role on the Hulu comedy series Ramy, which he created alongside Ari Katcher and Ryan Welch. The series stars Youssef as a first-generation American Muslim and his journey through his life in New Jersey.
Alongside Ramy, Youssef has also had several comedy specials, including two stand-up specials for HBO in 2020’s Feelings and 2024’s More Feelings. Youssef has won both a Golden Globe (for Ramy) and a Peabody Award (for Mo).
