The demand for a new Batman game has been high for years, and grows louder still as time goes by, especially in the aftermath of the disaster that was Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Interestingly enough, however, it seems those demands have been heard.
That’s as per a report published by Puck News, which claims that WB Games is currently working on a game based on the 2022 film The Batman, which was directed by Matt Reeves and starred Robert Pattinson as the eponymous superhero.
The report claims that though Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment was originally supposed to be sold off in 2020, it was ultimately deemed “too valuable to unload”, and that now, under Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, the division is seen as having “strategic” value.
“Various WBD divisions are beginning to collaborate more closely on properties like the upcoming Penguin HBO show and game, both seeded in the 2022 The Batman movie,” the report claims.
There’s no mention of which studio is developing the game in question.
Interestingly enough, it was claimed in reports earlier this year that Warner Bros. was considering selling a stake in WB Games to curtail a recent steep drop in stock prices. Read more on that through here.
In the meantime, those looking for a new Batman game can look forward to Batman: Arkham Shadow for the Meta Quest 3 this October.
