Sony has begun rolling out cloud streaming for PS5 titles for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, starting with Japan. It’s targeting an October 23rd release in Europe and an October 30th launch in North America.
Cloud streaming will support native titles in the PS Plus Game Catalog, Game Trials and select digital titles. When searching for the game in PS Plus through the dashboard or directly from your Library, the “streaming” option will indicate if it’s supported.
The function is only available for PS5 consoles and not PC or PS4. Furthermore, PlayStation VR2 titles and disc-based PS5 games can’t be streamed via the cloud. Remote Play also isn’t compatible with the service. Streaming options include 4K, 1440p, 1080p and 720p resolution in 60 FPS with SDR and HDR supported.
Though the list of supported titles is currently limited, Sony has plans to support “hundreds” of PS5 games. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
