Microsoft drops Game Pass pay target for CEO Nadella
pcgamesinsider.bizThe CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella's compensation no longer features a target that ties it to Xbox Game Pass.
That's according to an SEC filing from the Big M – as spotted by Axios – in which it appears that the chief exec's performance incentives for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2023 no longer include a target for growth for the company's subscription service.
In fact, in the proxy filing mentioned above, the only games-related target in Nadella's compensation package is tied to the performance of the broader Xbox Content and Services division. That's software and subscriptions, so Game Pass is likely still a part of that, albeit a much smaller part than before.
To receive compensation for this target, Microsoft had to increase Xbox Content and Services revenue by 4.44 per cent. The sector only managed a 0.7 per cent rise year-on-year.
Nadella still made $48.5 million in cash and stock for the 2022/23 fiscal year, down from the $54.9 million he received 12 months prior.
