The young Majestrix Xandra, leader of the vast Shi'ar Empire and the «secret» half-mutant daughter of X-Men leader Charles Xavier, was recently assassinated by her own people, shaking the foundation of Marvel's cosmic future to its core. With the expansion of mutantkind into the Sol System, and slowly the rest of the universe, the mutants of Krakoa and Arakko are at a precipice that will shape their relationship with the galaxy for years to come.
Majestrix Xandra is the lab-created daughter of the late Majestrix Lilandra and her royal consort Charles Xavier, and while it is not officially confirmed that Xandra is Xavier's daughter, it is an open secret that has indelibly tied together the X-Men and the Shi'ar Empire since her egg-birth in 2018's Mr. and Mrs. X #3. Since then Xandra has assumed the throne of the Shi'ar Empire and has been successfully running the vast galactic society, at least until the recent reveal of the villainous Crimson Kin in Marauders.

Marauders vol. 2, written by Steve Orlando and illustrated by Eleonora Carlini, has focused on the mutant rescue team discovering that the Shi'ar Empire has hidden a secret about the first «ancient mutants» from everyone, even Majestrix Xandra herself. The Marauders and Xandra come into conflict with the Shi'ar's sect of secret-keepers the Crimson Kin, who eventually assassinate her at the end of Marauders #3 to stop her from «betraying» their darkest secrets to Krakoa. While it was not confirmed at first that the shot at the end of Marauders kills her, in X-Men Red #4 — written by Al Ewing with art by Stefano Caselli — Xandra's right hand
