Season 2 has been ordered at Apple TV+.
Presumed Innocent is a legal thriller series starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Rusty Sabich. The first season of the series premiered on Apple TV+ on June 12, 2024.
Per Variety, Apple TV+ has officially renewed Presumed Innocent for a second season. The new season will focus on an entirely new case.
Variety reports that it’s currently unclear if Gyllenhaal will return to star in the second season, as it is dependent “on the events of the season finale.”
Based on the Scott Turow novel of the same name, the first season of Presumed Innocent also stars Ruth Negga as Barbara Sabich, Bill Camp as Raymond Horgan, O-T Fagbenle as Nico Della Guardia, Chase Infiniti as Jaden Sabich, Nana Mensah as Alana Rodriguez, Renate Reinsve as Carolyn Polhemus, Peter Sarsgaard as Tommy Molto, Kingston Rumi Southwick as Kyle Sabich, Elizabeth Marvel as Lorraine Horgan, and Lily Rabe as Liz Rush.
“The gripping series takes viewers on a journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office when chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (played by Gyllenhaal) is suspected of the crime,” the synopsis for Presumed Innocent’s first season reads. “The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.”
David E. Kelley serves as the showrunner for Presumed Innocent. He also executive produces the series for David E. Kelley Productions alongside Matthew Tinker of DEKP, J.J. Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich for Bad Robot Productions, Gyllenhaal for Nine Stories, Dustin Thomason, and Sharr White.
The first six episodes of Presumed Innocent are currently streaming on Apple TV+. The next episode releases on July 17, 2024, with the season finale then airing on July 24, 2024.
