The Squid Game Season 2 release date has been announced for the upcoming return of the hit Netflix drama.
Squid Game’s second season will premiere on Netflix just after Christmas. The series will launch on December 26, 2024. We also now know the series will finish off with Season 3, which is coming in 2025.
“Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport,” reads the Squid Game Season 2 synopsis. “Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organization proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.”

Squid Game Season 2 will feature several returning cast members, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun. Newcomers are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an.
Squid Game hails from writer-director Hwang Dong-Hyuk, who is best known for his works on South Korean films such as The Fortress, Miss Granny, and Silenced. The first season centered around a group of 456 cash-strapped players who accept a strange invitation to compete in children’s games at a remote island in hopes of winning 456 billion won. However, they soon find out that the prize comes with deadly high stakes.
