The Small Yet Strong event is set to take place in , with two new shiny debuts and a host of bonuses for trainers. On the back of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Small Yet Strong event brings increased spawn rates, new raids, challenges, and tasks to keep trainers busy in February.
The event will run from Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. local time until Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 8 p.m. local time. It continues the run of weekly events in ahead of the bigger events later this year. Unlike previous events in 2025, the event is completely free and has no paid-for elements.
There are many reasons for trainers to play the Small Yet Strong event this year in Pokémon GO, but there are no fully debuting Pokémon. However, two Pokémon make their shiny debuts in the game, so if you are looking to fully complete every element of your Pokédex, it is one not to miss.
Nymble is a Bug-type Pokémon that evolved from Lokix, a dual Bug- and Dark-type Pokémon. Nymble and its evolved form Lokix make their shiny debuts during the event.
Nymble is listed as one of the Pokémon with an increased spawn rate during the event. This includes its shiny form. So, to give yourself the best chance of finding the rare version, you should click on Nymble each time it spawns on your map. If you catch the shiny version, you can further evolve it into shiny Lokix by earning 50 Nymble candies. Additional candies can be found by catching multiple versions of Nymble, spending rare candy items, or walking with it as your buddy.
On top of Nymble, there are a further 6 Pokémon that will have an increased spawn rate, providing wild encounters during the Small Yet Strong event. These include Gen 1 Paras, Natu, Joltik, and Tynamo. While none of these are rare Pokémon, none regularly spawn in, so if you have missed any, the event is a great chance to catch them.
