Pokemon GO’s New Biome is Showing Up in Some Unexpected Places
Pokemon GO players have been surprised to find the new beach biome showing up in places that are far from the coast and don't resemble the beach much, if at all. The odd discovery is puzzling some Pokemon GO players, and it's making catching some Pokemon more complicated than fans might initially expect.
Pokemon GO is constantly undergoing updates, for better or worse. Many updates are lauded by the community, especially if they have new Pokemon to add to one's dex and fighting team. However, these updates sometimes come with issues that create controversy in the game community, including things like the recent Rediscover Yourself avatar update. This particular update created some changes in how avatars look that fans didn't like, including some problems with purchased poses and how Buddy Pokemon behave.
Pokemon GO recently released a biome update that made it so that multiple biomes can be found and accessed in the game, based on where the player is in real life. Some Pokemon are limited to unique biomes, making it important to seek out these locations when hunting for Pokemon. However, it seems that the new beach biome is showing up in some bizarre places, like golf courses and other sports fields. Fans aren't entirely sure why these were coded in as a beach biome, with some speculating that the presence of sand was enough, though it's not clear if that's actually the case.
However, there are some elements of this new biome discovery that are disappointing players. As mentioned, some Pokemon are found in the new biomes, including the addition of Wiglett and Wugtrio on beaches. However, not all of the game's beach biomes actually contain these new Pokemon. These Pokemon are limited to places where the biome is coded as «natural,» specifically «natural=coastline» and «natural=beach.» Whether or not the new beach biomes in odd places are a mistake or not, they don't have this specification, and thus those Pokemon can't actually spawn there.
