Nintendo's Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is now available on Switch, potentially marking a significant milestone for the console. Now it has been confirmed that Nintendo will reveal news about its next console within the next ten months, the Paper Mario remake could be the last Mario game we get on the console. It has also continued a trend of Nintendo reviving unlikely games from the plumber's past for remakes and rematsers, and if you love the original Thousand-Year Door there's a way you can make your Switch version look just like it.
Those of you who pre-ordered the remake through GameStop in Canada may have received an alternative cover that makes the Switch game look like its GameCube release, but those of us outside of Canada didn't have that option. Not until now anyway. Shared by Wario64, Nintendo is offering anyone who wants to replace the remake's cover with the original game's art the chance to do so, and all they have to do to make that happen is trade in 30 Platinum Points.
Platinum Points are a Nintendo currency you can earn by doing certain things on your Switch. You might already have enough for a retro Paper Mario cover and not even know it.
Okay, it's not quite as easy as simply trading in some of your Platinum Points for the alternative Paper Mario cover. In an ideal world doing so would prompt Nintendo to send you the cover in the mail, but unfortunately, you're going to have to print it yourself. Head to the cover's page and provided you're logged into your Nintendo account, you should be able to redeem the reward. That's if you have enough Platinum Points, of course. Your totals should be detailed in the top right corner of your screen.
After redeeming the reward you will be able to download the file. After that, you can print it. Make sure you print it in actual size on letter-sized paper, and Nintendo recommends using gloss, text-type paper. That will presumably make sure it looks like an actual game cover and not just a game
