With the underway, various Raid events have been announced through December 3rd, 2024. Expect to encounter Mega Blaziken during the Galarian Expedition event between October 4 and 10, 2024 with a chance to find a Shiny version of the Fire-type creature. While this Pokémon is no Mega Charizard Y, it’s still one of the game’s top Fire-types. Understanding Blaziken’s weaknesses and counters will make these Raids much easier.
Introduced a year ago in the Mythical Wishes Season, alongside counterparts Mega Swampert and Mega Sceptile, Mega Blaziken was overlooked among the three. Since good Fire-types are more common than good Grass-types, Sceptile was a rarer commodity than Blaziken. Swampert’s versatility as a Ground/Water-type hybrid was more coveted than Blaziken, as well. This time around, capturing a Shiny Blaziken might be worth your while.
Mega Blaziken is now a Rank One Fire Type, and a Rank Five Fighting Type. It’s a strong Raid opponent anddifficult to catch. If the trainer is playing during the Blaziken Raid event, then they’ll want to prepare appropriately for a chance to earn Energy or collect a Shiny Pokémon. Start by understanding Blaziken’s weaknesses.

As a Fire-type Pokémon, Blaziken is weak to Water, Flying, Ground, and Psychic-type attacks. The trainer should utilize their best Pokémon of these types against Blaziken. Mega, Primal, and Shadow Pokémon will be able to weaken Mega Blaziken for a chance at capturing the Fire-type opponent.
The more support you have from other trainers, the easier a Raid Battle will be. For a Mega Raid like this one, it's recommended that you team up with at least four or five high-level trainers for a chance at success.
There are certain Pokémon that will greatly increase the odds of defeating, or capturing, Blaziken.
