A talented Pokemon artist has shared online an impressive wood-burning art piece of the Water and Flying-type pocket monster, Gyarados. Fans of the Pokemon franchise have been known to create artwork based on their favorite pocket monster and share them on social media. In particular, the first generation of Pokemon, where Gyarados was introduced, is often a treasure trove of inspiration for art pieces because these critters have been with fans the longest.
Gyarados has always had a commanding presence, especially in earlier video games and television show seasons. Many fans will most likely remember the Pokemon as one of the first guaranteed shinies that players could capture in the second generation of the games, Gold, Silver, and Crystal. In the television show, Gyarados is one of Misty’s strongest Pokemon. These appearances in the games and television show episodes have left the impression on fans of the franchise that Gyarados is one of the coolest Pokemon around.
A user going by the handle Beginning-Primary-16 on the Pokemon subreddit has shared with other fans a wood-burnt art piece featuring Gyarados. The piece is in black and white and has the Atrocious Pokemon rising out of a raging ocean set against a background that comprises the sun and a lighthouse in the distance. Also included in the piece are several Magikarp, the pre-evolution of Gyarados, that are weak in battle but, with the right strategy and moves, can one-shot a Blaziken Unrivaled in a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera raid. According to Beginning-Primary-16, they hand-drew the artwork on the wood before using a pyrography pen to complete the wood-burning process.
The post was well-received on Reddit by several other users who were impressed not only with the project’s level of detail but also with the fact that the artist completed the piece entirely by hand. Wood burning is an incredibly intense project, but one that Pokemon fans seem to enjoy, as indicated by another artist’s fiery Charizard
