Sony is offering a new incentive for PS4 and PS5 owners to sign-up to PlayStation Plus: free movie streaming.
Sony's range of Bravia TVs and some Xperia devices can currently use the Bravia Core app, which offers access to Sony's wide range of movies. However, the Bravia Core app is being rebranded to Sony Pictures Core and a Sony Pictures Core app launched for the PS4 and PS5 games consoles.
Signing up for the app gains you access to around 2,000 movies that can be rented or purchased, but PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe members gain an extra incentive for using the app—Sony is offering up to 100 movies to stream for free from the Sony Pictures library as long as your subscription is active.
The movies are ad-free and the range of titles will be updated periodically. The available movies currently include Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation. Sony is also promising to add a range of anime content in future taken from Crunchyroll, which the Japanese company acquired back in 2020.
If you own a PS4 or PS5, the Sony Pictures Core app can be found in the Media section of the PS5 interface as well as in the PlayStation Store on PS4. PSN subscribers will welcome the extra incentive to keep paying for the service after Sony recently increased the price of a subscription.
