A new PlayStation 5 system software update is now available for download, introducing improvements to performance and stability.
The new 24.06-10.01.00 update, which can be downloaded straight from the PlayStation 5 system, apparently only introduces system software performance and stability, according to the update notes. However, it also fixes graphics and crashing issues introduced by the previous update in select games. After installing the update, I can confirm that Final Fantasy XVI runs properly again, so the issues should be fixed for other games afflicted by the same issues as well.
Besides messing up games like Final Fantasy XVI, the PlayStation 5 24.06 system software update introduced the Welcome Hub, a personalized space on the console's home screen that players can customize with different widgets, a Party Share feature that allows users to share party voice chats on any messaging or social media app, personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds, new Remote Play settings and more. You can learn more about the update here.
While continuing to work on the software side, Sony hasn't been idle on the hardware side either. The long-rumored PlayStation 5 Pro will launch on November 7th, bringing significant visual improvements to existing titles such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Sony is also working on the PlayStation 6, which will be powered by AMD and may be released in two different SKUs.
