PlayStation 5 Slim Comparison Images Highlight Considerable Size Difference With Original Model
New PlayStation 5 Slim comparison images were shared online today to showcase the size difference between the upcoming hardware revision and the console's current Standard Edition model.
The images, which were shared on the PlayStation subreddit by NatureCertain, compare a 3D model of the upcoming console created using the official specifications with the Standard Edition of the current console model, highlighting how the new model will be visibly smaller than the current one, although not in the same as previous slim revisions were compared to the original models.
A smaller size isn't the only thing that will set the PlayStation 5 Slim from the current model. The Digital Edition of the system will be compatible with a detachable disc drive, while both editions of the console will feature a 1 TB SSD, offering slightly more storage space than the current models, and two USB Type-C ports. Unfortunately, the new Digital Edition model will come with a price increase in the US, as it will retail for $449 instead of $399.
With the PlayStation 5 Slim and the detachable disc drive having been revealed by insiders way before the official announcement, there's little doubt that the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro will be released in the future. The console is said to feature accelerated ray tracing capabilities, an 8K "Performance Mode," and better and more consistent 4K performance, which will be achieved with faster memory and around 60 Compute Units, among other undisclosed technical features.
The new PlayStation 5 Slim will start rolling out this November worldwide.
