Roblox has had a huge launch on PlayStation, according to analyst group Circana (NPD).
According to executive director Mat Piscatella, one week after Roblox launched on PlayStation, only two games drove more engagement: Call of Duty and Fortnite.
“Roblox had a huge debut week on PlayStation,” Piscatella wrote on Twitter. “According to Circana’s Player Engagement Tracker, during its launch week Roblox ranked 3rd in percentage of PlayStation players that played the title at least once. Only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Fortnite ranked higher.”
According to Roblox, more than 65 million people play the game daily.
Roblox was originally released on PC back in 2006, and was then ported to iOS in 2012 and Android in 2014.
The platform made its console debut in 2015, when it was released for Xbox One (and is still playable on Xbox Series X/S).
In a statement following a keynote speech at the Roblox Developer Conference in San Francisco last month, Roblox said: “At long last, we announced that next month, more than 150 million console owners across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will be able to access the full catalog of Roblox experiences.”
As well as the new PlayStation version of Roblox, the company announced that it will also be upgrading the Xbox version.
The updated Xbox app will “enable a new look, frequent updates (with access to the latest features), improved content recommendations, and an improved user experience”.
