Wizard With a Gun, a game about a wizard with a gun, has launched a day early on Steam in a move that publisher Devolver Digital said was to avoid a clash with Diablo IV's launch on the popular storefront.
Devolver had planned to launch the game on October 17, but the company instead put it out today--October 16. The company joked in a press release that, «Something called Diablo IV, which we’ve never heard of, but apparently a lot of people love--decided it was going to release on Steam on the same day.»
Wizard With a Gun is out now on Steam, but the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions remain set for release on October 17.
For anyone just catching up, Wizard With a Gun is a sandbox survival game that has players taking on the role of a wizard with a gun who uses a variety of magical weapons to mow down villains in a post-apocalyptic world.
The game is inspired by the meme of Gandalf wielding an AK-47. Wizard with a Gun is developed by Galvanic Games.
October 17 is shaping up to be a big, big day for gaming. Not only is Diablo IV coming to Steam that day, but its new update, Season of Blood, is also launching then. Additionally, Call of Duty's Halloween event, The Haunting, begins on October 17, while Halo Infinite's Season 5: Reckoning is also launching that day.
