Phantom Liberty Won't Add A Metro System To Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR Confirms
CD Projekt Red once again clarified that the studio has no plans to add a working metro system in Cyberpunk 2077, so don't expect this feature to finally arrive in the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion.
A subway system was shown during the game's in-engine reveal trailer and its absence has been one of the most common complains since launch. Despite that, CDPR didn't add it during Cyberpunk 2077's two years of patches and content updates, and even made it clear a year ago that the team isn't planning to do so in future. Regardless, fans still aren't over it, and many hope to take a train ride across Night City one day.

Just recently, many fans across the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit expressed their excitement after one user pointed to a recent LANparty urbanism conference, where CDPR's artist Vladimír Vilimovský allegedly talked (in Czech) about the subway system that will be coming to the game in one of the future patches. However, either the translation wasn't spot on, or the developer himself was mistaken about the topic, and this statement was soon denied by the company.
The situation was clarified by the company's community director Marcin Momot on socials, who said that "nothing has changed regarding the metro system" in Cyberpunk 2077. According to Momot, CDPR "do not plan on adding it in the future," presumably debunking fans' hopes of using the subway properly in Phantom Liberty DLC, currently expected to arrive later this year.
