A few lucky moviegoers will get a chance to watch Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves two weeks before its official premiere at the end of the month. This joint initiative is a collaborative first for Paramount, the studio releasing the film.
First conceptualized in 2013 by Warner Bros.,Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thievesis based on the eponymous tabletop role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons, a fantasy RPG often set in the particularly fantastical Forbidden Realms. With about the same level of accountability and moral fiber as the average Dungeons and Dragons party, the main characters of Honor Among Thieves seek redemption after inadvertently helping the evil Red Wizard summon an army of undead. Fans got a first look at Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at 2022’s Comic-Con and have been eager to see the film.
8 Fantasy Movies D&D Fans Should Watch Before Honor Among Thieves
Now, Paramount Pictures is offering fans the chance to catch the Dungeons and Dragons movie two weeks ahead of its planned premiere, but only if they’re Amazon Prime Video subscribers. Per The Wrap, tickets to a special March 19th showing will be available to interested subscribers. Amazon, whose fantasy series Rings of Power season 2 started filming ahead of the first season finale last year, holds a fanbase that will jump at the chance to see the new Dungeons and Dragons film, which one viewer of the film’s SXSW premiere described as “a tried and true fantasy-action odyssey that is as approachable to folks who know next to nothing about the game as it is gratifying for fans.”
The move is mutually beneficial, with Paramount's President of Domestic Distribution, Chris Aronson, explaining the initiative in a statement to the press.
