Developer Grinding Gear Games has announced that the much-anticipated beta for Path of Exile 2, originally slated for June 7, is instead going to be pushed back. In its announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the studio has revealed that it instead plans on having an alpha test of the game in June.
“Path of Exile 2‘s beta is going to be delayed,” reads the announcement. “We previously said that we would get the beta out on June 7th and while we think we would be able to get the game’s content ready in time, we underestimated how long it will take to get gameplay polished to a standard we’re happy with.”
The studio has stated that it doesn’t yet have an exact date for Path of Exile 2‘s beta yet, it will be out sometime later in the year.
While the beta might still be quite some time away, the studio behind Path of Exile 2 has previously shown off quite a bit of gameplay from the upcoming action RPG, with trailers released towards the end of 2023 revealing different class abilities and synergies, including a trailer for the Druid.
The studio has also revealed that Path of Exile 2 will feature the option for WASD-based movement, rather than the traditional mouse-based movement that other games in the genre, like Diablo 4, are known for.
