Mega Crit has announced a sequel to its popular roguelike deck-building game Slay the Spire.
Slay the Spire 2 will be released in Steam Early Access in 2025, the Seattle, Washington-based studio said on Wednesday.
The sequel has been “completely rewritten from the ground up” in a new game engine, according to its newly-launched Steam page.
“We’re bringing in modern features, incorporating all-new visuals, and expanding moddability,” it reads.
“The Spire isn’t what it used to be. Encounter all new enemies, events, and treasures await as the rooms and items you discover change each time you play…
“Try risky builds or play it safe as you explore countless different strategies, find yourself in peculiar scenarios, and confront the Bosses of each Act.”
Slay the Spire launched in early access for PC, Mac and Linux in November 2017, ahead of its official release in January 2019.
It came to PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One later that same year, before releasing for iOS in 2020 and Android in 2021.
The game was well received by critics, earnings it scores ranging from 83 to 89 on review aggregations site Metacritic.
