Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight MCU Casting Was Raised Multiple Times Before
Oscar Isaac admits there's been talk of him getting involved with the MCU well before his casting as Moon Knight. Isaac has been in a Marvel project before, but it was outside of the MCU; he played the titular blue-skinned villain in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse. Beyond that, Isaac made his mark on another major Hollywood franchise when he played hotshot pilot Poe Dameron in three Star Wars films. Because of both of those opportunities, it wasn't quite clear if the fan favorite actor would ever be interested in joining the MCU.
The answer, it turns out, is yes. Isaac was cast as Marc Spector, aka Moon Knight, in late 2020 and will lead his very own Disney+ show, which begins next week. Moon Knight is a 6-episode limited series that also stars May Calamawy and Ethan Hawke, and it is being positioned as the MCU's darkest project yet. In the comics, Marc is a mercenary with dissociative identity disorder who is given special powers by the Egyptian moon good Khonshu. So far, though, Marvel is keeping the details of Marc's transformation in Moon Knight a secret.

Screen Rant was on hand at the Moon Knight premiere and got the chance to speak with Isaac about his MCU debut. While mentioning the various fan castings that have come up for Isaac over the years, SR asked how many times the MCU has been discussed with him and just what made him say yes to Moon Knight. Isaac admitted that, yes, the MCU has come up a few times, but there was something special about this role. He said:
It's come up a couple times, okay, I'm not going to lie, I'm not going to lie. I've wanted to, I mean, Kevin, the guy's a genius. And he's so passionate too. And this came my way, and
