The likes of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim now includes fishing, and many fans are finding themselves swapping out their claymores for their rods. With that in mind, it's not surprising that someone has added the ability to fish to Oblivion, though this version takes some inspiration from Minecraft.
Uploading the file to Nexusmods recently, user efhunter has created a fishing add-on for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, which takes cues from Mojang's open-world sandbox game. What's most impressive about this mod is that it's also fully voiced, thanks to dialogue generated by AI using the xVASynth software. An accompanying video shows efhunter's mod in action, with the player entering the Flowing Bowl in Anvil, where the proprietor offers up a range of rods, as well as a set of instructions on fishing in the region. It's all quite impressive for that extra bit of immersion.

The way that it takes cues from the fishing mechanics in Minecraft, according to the description page on Nexusmods, is that when players launch the «bobber» into the water, they will need to watch out for a big splash indicating that a fish has latched on. Once they reel it in, the game will indicate that a fish has been caught. It seems as though it's possible to catch nearly every fish in Oblivion, including some from other mods. For anyone looking for that peaceful life in Cyrodiil, this could offer up an alternative to battling it out with creatures or going on dangerous quests.
