The Museum of the Moving Image has announced its latest exhibition, Living with The Walking Dead, which will run from June 25 through January 1. The Astoria-based museum will explore the origins, production, fandom, and impact of the long-running AMC series The Walking Dead, which currently boasts two spin-off series and three in development.
The post-apocalyptic series, starring Norman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln, and Melissa McBride, first premiered on the network in 2010 and has been airing for eleven seasons. It takes place in a world that has been overrun by zombies and centers around a group of survivors learning to adapt to their new environment. While ratings and viewership have fluctuated over the years, the show is generally well received and has a presence at many regional and big-name fan conventions, including both San Diego and New York Comic Con.

Additionally, the museum will host a zombie-themed screening series calledFilms of the Dead: Romero and Co., with support by the horror-focused streaming platform Shudder, during the first month of the exhibition (June 25-July 30). The series will showcase movies by George A. Romero, starting with his 1968 cult classic Night of the Living Dead, along with Edgar Wright, Zack Snyder, Jim Jarmusch, and Shinichiro Ueda. Screening tickets are $15 (with discounts for seniors, students, youth, and MoMI members). Advance tickets are available online here and ticketholders are able to purchase tickets to the Living with The Walking Dead exhibition for an additional $10.
