In a recent 10.1 group interview, Morgan Day announced that no Seasonal affix will be present in Dragonflight Season 2, and the level 7 bucket of affixes is getting an «affix refresh».
Seasonal Affix in Dragonflight Season 2Seasonal affixes were added in Battle for Azeroth to change up gameplay from season to season, as the dungeons didn't change from season to season. From Infested to Thundering, Seasonal affixes have been loved and hated while adding varying levels of complexity. Thundering in particular has added quite a bit of complexity to the dungeons, having to weave in clears between mechanics which force you to spread, with a severe punishment of (essentially) death for failure. However, with Dragonflight adding a dungeon rotation, Blizzard have felt that they might not need a Seasonal affix at all to change dungeons from season to season and so in an answer to Jez from Windows Central, Morgan Day announced that no affix (Seasonal or otherwise) will be added at keystone level 10:
Morgan: In terms of the philosophy of affixes in particular for Season 2, we've definitely taken a big step back there and are looking at it holistically. One major change we're making is we're actually just not going to have a level 10, that is to say the «seasonal affix» like Thundering. There won't be a replacement for Thundering and Thundering is being retired. So at level 10, the scaling will continue to kick in but there's no new affix there.
