Filming locations for Gareth Edwards’ new movie have been revealed.
Per Variety, Universal Pictures’ next Jurassic movie will be filmed in Thailand, Malta, and the United Kingdom. Production is expected to begin today, June 13, in locations such as Bangkok, Trang, Phang Nga, Phuket, and Chiang Mai
The film stars Scarlet Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and David Iacono.
Variety reports that the movie will be “a completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era, following three adults and three teens getting stuck on the Island.”
The article also notes that the film is currently being referred to as Jurassic World 4 and Jurassic City, though an official title has not yet been announced.
David Koepp wrote the script for the forthcoming film, which will be released in July 2025. Steven Spielberg serves as a producer alongside Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley.
Edwards’ previous filmography includes 2010’s Monsters, 2014’s Godzilla, 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and 2023’s The Creator. Prior to Edwards’ involvement, The Fall Guy’s David Leitch was in talks to helm the movie; however, he dropped out due to creative differences.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are not expected to reprise their respective roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing in Jurassic World 4. Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum are also not expected to return.
Following 1993’s Jurassic Park, 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and 2001’s Jurassic Park III, the Colin Trevorrow-directed Jurassic World was released in United States theaters in June 2015. It was followed by J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which came in 2018, and Trevorrow’s Jurassic World Dominion, which arrived in 2022.
Universal Pictures‘ new Jurassic World movie releases in United States theaters on July 2, 2025.
