Hot Wheels: Rift Rally, a mixed-reality racing game that turns the living room into a race track, is available now after a slight delay. It is made in partnership between Mattel and Velan Studios, the latter of which is known for the development of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit and Knockout City.
Using the Chameleon RC car, which can take on over 140 vehicle permutations in-game, Velan Studios' mixed reality technology blends the real world into a digital environment to simulate various speedways. This, in turn, can be used to play through a variety of mini-games, puzzles, challenges, races, stunts, and so on, in either solo or multiplayer sessions. There is a campaign mode, which presents different challenge maps in mixed reality tracks, and a Stunt Mode, where drifts, wheelies, and burnouts lead to various rewards.
