An Xbox version of Neon White has been rated by the ESRB.
As spotted by Twisted Voxel, the game’s rating page was updated to list Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S alongside the already existing PS4 and PS5 versions (the Switch and PC, which got the game first, have a separate rating page).
The critically acclaimed game, which is published by Annapurna Interactive, was released on PC and Switch in June 2022 before being ported to PS4 and PS5 in December.
However, there’s been no sight of an Xbox version despite rumours that one was on the way.
Assuming it isn’t an error, the ESRB’s rating suggests that an official announcement of an Xbox version of Neon White should be imminent.
With a Metacritic rating of 88-89 (depending on format), Neon White was the review aggregator site’s 7th highest rated Switch game and 9th highest rated PC game of 2022.
The part FPS, part puzzle platformer is focused on speedrunning gameplay and has players controlling a demon hunter called Neon who has to destroy all the demons in each level as quickly as possible.
The game was nominated for a number of awards, including Best Independent Game and Best Action Game at The Game Awards 2022, and Action Game of the Year and Outstanding Achievement for an Independent Game at the 2022 DICE Awards.
It has also been nominated for Best Debut and Best Design at the upcoming Game Developers Choice Awards, and for Excellence in Design and the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the upcoming Independent Games Festival Awards.
