Meet Your Maker is out now, and it's taken just two days for some truly horrible Outposts to be posted online for potential raiders to defeat. In her review, our own Lex Luddy expressed concern that Meet Your Maker would eventually wind up like Mario Maker, where levels could range from "hard" to "goddamn impossible," but it seems to be happening much faster than anticipated.
In a Reddit AMA, one fan noted the proliferation of "killbox" style maps has greatly increased the game's overall difficulty, and suggested one potential solution would be to institute a rule where creators must complete their own map before they can be posted online. In response, Behaviour Interactive lead game designer Pierre Rivest said they have no plans to institute a similar system.

"We have a lot of trust in our system that no Outpost is impossible to defeat," said Rivest. "Not all Builders are experienced Raiders, or interested in Raiding, and we want them to be able to experience the game in the way that they prefer. The building experience is designed to be quick to iterate, and requiring those players to beat their Outpost every time they adjust a trap or finetune a guard path takes away from that flexibility to adapt."
The good news is that Meet Your Maker, like Mario Maker, has plenty of maps for players to try. "If you encounter an Outpost that simply isn’t fun for you," Rivest added, "you’re not required to complete it and can move on to an Outpost that is more appealing."
