Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores is less than two weeks away, but Guerrilla Games still has plenty to reveal. After teasing a settlement in Los Angeles, the setting for the new expansion, it’s confirmed to have been established by the Quen.
Aloy first meets the Quen in the base game and is all about using the Focus, which has influenced their development and culture. Focuses are limited in the tribe, and only a select few, the Diviners, can use them to access data. Ava is a Diviner and serves as an important friend to Aloy.
The Quen in the Burning Shores have been there for some time and established an “impressive settlement that’s a lot of fun to explore.” Lead writer Annie Kitain also confirms that players will meet new characters like Admiral Gerrit, a “highly decorated commander in the Quen Navy and the leader of this group of Quen. He’s responsible for keeping things together even in their dire circumstances.”
There’s also Seyka, a marine spotted in key art for Burning Shores. She’s a new companion that Aloy will “spend a lot of time,” and “rely on her help in many situations – a position she doesn’t often find herself in.” Seyka is described as “Confident, compassionate, and fierce,” and plays “an important role in the next chapter of Aloy’s journey.”
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is out on April 19th, exclusively for PS5. Guerrilla recently revealed one of the new Machines, the Waterwing, and also went into detail about the new cloudscapes that players will explore. Stay tuned for more in the coming days.
