Naraka: Bladepoint has crossed a new milestone of 40 million unique players. The multiplatform battle royale game is also preparing for events and a 2024 roadmap reveal in December.
The success that enabled the now free to play game to reach 40 million was announced in the most recent NetEase earnings call. CEO William Ding credited the success to a series of consistent updates, including new heroes and new weapons in addition to an active esports community. The most recently released hero, Hadi Ismail, and weapon, the Fan, have been well received.
Community efforts around his release have included a special collaboration between JesseLHV, a one-handed gamer who worked with an engineering team at Hacksmith Industries to create a prosthetic arm similar to the one Hadi has in the game. Although, the real one is probably less deadly. This teamup even put out a teaser video that will premiere in December.
Another growth opportunity came when the game went free to play across all platforms this year. Naraka: Bladepoint’s development team has added new modes, additional weapons, collaborations, and more.
Coming on December 19th is the next Naraka Fest showcase, where the team will unveil their plans for 2024. The roadmap update is just one of the things happening in December. The J-Cup World Championship is also on now, with a $1.5 million prize pool. The group stage is this week, and will continue throughout this weekend. The grand finals will be held in Chengdu, China from December 16th through the 17th, right before the Naraka Fest showcase.
