It's weird that MultiVersus is not the first time Batman and the gang from Mystery Inc. have hung out together. The last time they met, the Caped Crusader offered the gang a very questionable snack of bat-milk and bat-cookies. It is here, some say, that the legend of Ultra Instinct Shaggy began. The meme actually surfaced a few years back when someone made an edit of a clip from Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur to include the powerful Dragon Ball Super form. However, it appears that it is now canon.
As spotted by IGN, MultiVersus director Tony Huynh confirmed that Ultra Instinct Shaggy is canon while speaking at a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. "While it's a meme, it's actually canon," he said. "In the movie, there's that bar fight scene. There was the Mortal Kombat animated movie last year, and it was connected to that."
The movie that Huynh referenced was Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, where Ultra Instinct Shaggy made a surprise appearance. It was only in the Warner Bros. intro however, not as a Mortal Kombat tournament participant, unfortunately.

This wasn't the only bit of information we got about MultiVersus at San Diego Comic-Con. Three new characters were revealed as part of the roster – Rick, Morty, and LeBron James. LeBron, expectedly, had a moveset filled with basketball drills and could also provide buffs to other players. He will be added to the game on July 26, but we didn't get much information on Rick and Morty.
Unfortunately, LeBron will not be voicing himself in the game, instead, the honour will go to John Bentley, who is best known for voicing Barrett in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. There was no real reason given
